PERSONAL + RECREATION

Whether I'm helping plan an event at work, create instructions for teammates, or want to make something for my own interests and life events, I find myself playing around with graphic design concepts. Below are some examples of things that I have created for fun, for marketing my "author" self, and for educational and wellness events at my workplace.

Outraged at the murder of George Floyd and inspired by the action of so many people speaking out against police brutality, three friends and I coordinated reading competition to raise money for charity.

We are all avid readers and wanted to challenge ourselves and other friends to use books as a way to learn more about social issues and also to support authors of color and LGBTQIA+ authors.

At the end of the competition, I created this infographic to share on social media and send to the participants.
In 2020, I launched my own website and revamped my social media sites to match my new author brand. I have read that for authors who want to be successful today, they must do a lot of marketing for themselves, even before they're published. So, I have used my design skills to create my own website, a quarterly newsletter, and social media posts. I have been working on a novel and have designed three different book covers. I do this as a creative outlet, and it's a fun exercise to challenge myself to design something that fits a work in progress. As my novel became more developed, so too did the cover design.

As a member of an employee engagement committee at my job, I help organize and plan events that tackle environmentalism, health and wellness, and diversity and cultural sensitivity training. While also helping to plan these events, I am the go-to poster designer for events we host as well as the editor-in-chief for our office newsletter.

Every week in April, our office plans an Earth Week to coincide with Earth Day. Here is an example of a slideshow that I designed and presented on plastic, its negative effect on the Earth, and what we can do to help.
For the past few summers, I helped organize a summer wellness challenge. It started out as a walk, run, and bike challenge and then evolved into having more opportunities for participants who would prefer easier ways to become more active. Below are two examples of the themed logos I created for the challenges.
